Holden Beach is known for its excellent offshore fishing. It was one of the first islands developed and was a commericial fishing town in the 1920s. This island had been only accessible by ferry, until recently. Now there is a two-lane, elevated bridge connecting the island to the mainland. This island offers 11 miles of beach, unique retail shops, amusements, and restaurants. It is a great family retreat.
