SUNSET BEACH

The smallest of the Brunswick Islands is reached by driving across the only remaining pontoon bridge on the East Coast. The last area island to be developed, Sunset Beach boasts remarkably wide snow-white beaches, huge dune ridges, and marsh areas. It is the only island to gain sand every year. It offers a very natural and secluded feeling to its residents with little commercialism. Calabash and N. Myrtle Beach are only a short drive away offering endless options for recreation and dining. At dusk, Sunset Beach lives up to its name with spectacular sunsets made possible by the unusual east-west alignment of the island. The east end of the island is only 4 rows wide with the 4th row bordering a natural canal with unobstructed marsh views. Very few homes are available for purchase on this island with even less land undeveloped. When property becomes available, it sells very quickly and usually for top dollar.
